Please see this month’s newsletter, provided by Age UK. 

It looks at energy-related scams – something to be particularly aware of as the weather gets colder and we start thinking about keeping our homes warm.  You may receive a text, phone call, letter, email or even a knock at the door offering a “free boiler”, “free insulation” or a “government energy grant”. While there are genuine schemes available to help people with energy efficiency and heating costs, scammers know how convincing these offers can sound.

In this edition they look at some of the ways these scams work, the warning signs to look out for and, most importantly, how to check whether an offer is genuine before handing over your personal details, agreeing to any work, or letting someone into your home.  

They also share how you can get free, independent advice if you're struggling with your energy bills, including support with checking what financial help you may be entitled to.
